Wembley Arena '87 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Strange Behaviour Tour at Wembley Arena in London, UK on 20 May 1987.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at Wembley Arena, a 12,500 capacity indoor venue located opposite Wembley Stadium. This was the last of twelve shows performed in the UK on the tour.
John Adams opened the show, an artist performing with a band line-up that included drummer Mel Gaynor from the Scottish rock band Simple Minds.
When the lights dimmed, the anticipation was electrified. Duran Duran came out with all guns blazing and kicked off their set with the Bond-movie theme "A View to a Kill". Playing in a band line-up featuring Stan Harrison and Curtis King Jr., Duran Duran then got the crowd dancing with the funky "Notorious".
During the evening, the band delved into their back catalogue with songs such as "New Religion" and "The Chauffeur". Each one getting a great response from the crowd.
Duran Duran returned for an encore featuring "The Wild Boys" and a reggae version of "The Reflex".
Tickets for the event cost from around £12.00.
