We Were So Turned On: A Tribute to David Bowie is a cover song compilation album featuring Duran Duran, released by Mamimal Vinyl on 13 September 2010.

About the albumEdit

This is the third tribute album from the Los Angeles based Manimal Vinyl, who have previously covered Madonna and The Cure. The album is a tribute to David Bowie, featuring songs performed by various artists.

The songs are not a straight copy of the originals, but a reinterpretation. Included is a Spanish version of "Sound and Vision" performed by Devendra Banhart's Megapuss.

The compilation also includes "Boys Keep Swinging" covered by Duran Duran, who once toured the USA with Bowie during his Glass Spider Tour. Duran Duran have also covered other Bowie songs in concert and released "Fame" as the B-side to "Careless Memories" in 1981.

Duran Duran's "Boys Keep Swinging" and Carla Bruni's "Absolute Beginners" feature together on a limited edition 7” vinyl single (MANI702), released by Manimal on 20 December 2010. A total of 1000 pressing were produced and split in the following colours 300 on pink opaque, 300 on clear and 400 on black.

All net profits from the album went to War Child UK, which is part of the international charity for children affected by war.
