Virginia Beach 2005 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Astronaut Tour at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion, Harbor Center in the city of Virginia Beach, VA, USA on 3 August 2005.

About the albumEdit

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion, a 6,500 seat amphitheatre with a waterfront location. This was the last US summer date of the tour.

The show began at around 8:00pm with Canadian band Dragonette, performing their style of electropop.

With temperatures of 80 degrees outside the venue, Duran Duran took to the stage and became the first ever artist to play at the new Ntelos Pavilion.

The band launched their set with five songs all written by the original members of Duran Duran. This included "Astronaut", the first of five tracks taken from their new album Astronaut during the evening.

The concert continued with "Come Undone" featuring backing vocals by Anna Ross, who Simon Le Bon later introduced and said "She sings like an angel".

The venue is close to many military installations, which includes Naval Station Norfolk and Naval Air Station Oceana. Because of the location, Simon Le Bon dedicated "Ordinary World" to "The military members and the ones they left behind".

The show finished at around 11:15pm with Le Bon saying "We'll be back".

Official tour programmes featuring 3D pop-up pages cost $45.

The bootleg front cover features photography by Stephanie Pistel.
