Tower Records 1997 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded at the Duran Duran Tribute Show, Tower Records parking lot in Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA, USA on 12 October 1997.

About the album Edit

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at Tower Records' parking lot, located at 8801 West Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood. This location was closed in December 2006.

Two days before the release of the album Medazzaland on the 14 October, Duran Duran gave a preview of some of the new songs by headlining their own tribute show in the parking lot of Tower Records.

Joining Duran Duran at the 2:00pm concert were some of the bands that appeared on The Duran Duran Tribute Album, including Goldfinger, Riverfenix, Jimmy Eat World and Home Grown. Each act performed the song they recorded for the album.

Duran Duran opened their performance with "Electric Barbarella", the first single released from Medazzaland and the first ever song to be sold legally as an internet download.

The album also includes four bonus tracks, featuring demo recordings from the Medazzaland recording sessions.
