Toronto 2005 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Astronaut Tour at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, ON, Canada on 5 April 2005.

About the albumEdit

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Air Canada Center, a 19,800 capacity venue located on Bay Street in downtown Toronto. This was the second of three shows held in Canada on the tour.

Before the show, Duran Duran and wardrobe designer Jeffrey Bryant spoke to Central News in the UK. The news report included Simon Le Bon warming up with techniques his vocal coach and singer Björk taught him. The report also features live footage of the opening song "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise" and the band talking about their Birmingham 2005 summer concert.

Duran Duran touched down at the Air Canada Centre for a sold-out evening of music, in support of 2004's Astronaut, the first studio album featuring the original members in two decades.

The band began the show by appearing at the front of the stage, standing in line, with a pulsating beat as a sonic backdrop.

Kicking off with "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise" with gyrating lights behind the stage, Duran Duran then launched into "Hungry Like the Wolf"

Towards the middle of the concert Nick Rhodes showcased his keyboards skills, whilst playing the instrumental "Tiger Tiger" on his own. Simon Le Bon then joined him during "The Chauffeur", dressed as a driver complete with a hat.

This was followed by the crowd pleasing "A View to a Kill" from the 007 movie of the same name. "Save A Prayer" prompted a major singalong by the audience, with lighters flickering.

Near the end of the show, Le Bon changed into a shirt emblazoned with 1978 for a performance of "White Lines". The band closed out the show with "Rio".

Duran Duran would return to Toronto in 2006 for the Olympic Games Concert.
