Tony Taverner is a British record engineer and music producer, whose work has included engineering and mixing Duran Duran's "Ordinary World" (Acoustic Version) released in 1993.

Biography[]

In 1969, Tony landed his first job at the Marquee, the original Marquee Studio located at the back of The Marquee Club's premises at 10 Richmond Mews in London. He stayed there for three years before moving on to a residential studio in Kent, called Escape studios. These studios were situated on a farm and owned by the Ruffi brothers. While Taverner was there, he worked with Jeff Beck and engineered Nazareth's Hair of the Dog album.

Taverner left Escape in 1976 and had his first daugter Kelsey.  He has worked mostly freelance ever since. He spent 11 years at Maison Rouge, with five of those years as studio manager.

In his producer capacity, Taverner has worked with East 17, Duran Duran, The Jam, The Hollies, London Beat, Gary Glitter, The Gypsy Kings and Motorhead, while as an engineer he's applied his talents to the recordings of Wham!, Bill Wyman, Sex Pistols, Robert Palmer, New York Dolls, The Power Station, Level 42, Warren Cuccurullo, Nazareth and Black Sabbath.
