Jan 28 Duran Duran are participating in the first Music Issue for British Vogue with a number of top bands. Their shoot is tomorrow and they will be photographed by Mario Testino. This issue will hit the streets in early Spring. (Source).
? The compilation album Covered released, featuring The Droyds version of "Girls on Film".
Feb Mastermix: Issue 199 - February 2003 released, containing an 80's Heroes mix by Richard Wood featuring six Duran Duran tracks.

The show is taped for the Music Planet 2Nite show for Arte TV. It is the only full performance the band have done thus far.

Apr Duran announces their first tour dates together in eighteen years with the original line up of Simon, Andy, Nick, John and Roger. The first shows (in Japan) go on sale and the renowned 8,000 capacity Budokan Arena in Tokyo sells out in a staggering thirty minutes! A second sell out show at the Budokan is added to the five other dates.
May ? Publishing of famed photographer Mario Testino photos for British Vogue magazine's May Issue, from Jan 29th; becomes the first magazine to publish a photo of the reunited band. The cover of the magazine features Kate Moss looking like Ziggy Stardust. The band get a double page. (Magazine Issue).
May 5 The Dandy Warhols release Welcome To The Monkey House. The album receives critical acclaim and rave reviews for its Duran/Bowie-esque influences – brought to the project by Nick Rhodes’ finely tuned production skills.
May 12 EMI release Singles Box Set 1981-1985, a thirteen-CD collection of the band’s singles to coincide with the 25th Anniversary.
May? Shoo Magazine: Summer 2003 published, featuring an exclusive photo shoot by Nick Rhodes.
May? Duran finishes the demo sessions and plans to go out on tour with the songs.
Jun? The band produce a teaser CD to show to potential publishers while they are out on the tour. The teaser CD has demo versions of a few of the unfinished songs: "Virus", "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise", "TV vs Radio", "Taste the Summer", "Salt in the Rainbow" and "Pretty Ones".

Jun EMI release re-mastered versions of Duran Duran's Rio and Seven and the Ragged Tiger.

The band members announce their first American dates in eighteen years, including a night at the legendary Roxy Theatre on Sunset in Los Angeles (the first West Coast venue they played some 20 plus years earlier). The show is announced by the band on LA’s KROQ radio. Fans sleep outside the venue for nights in order to secure tickets to the Roxy show. A star-studded audience includes Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani, fellow No Doubt’ers Tony Kanal and Adrien Young, actor Nicolas Cage, Christina Applegate, Beck, Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray and Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols.
Jun? Duran announces more US dates, including The Joint at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas which sells out in less than 10 minutes, with a second date being quickly added. Another celebrity-packed audience attends the concert and after-party, hosted by Hard Rock founder Peter Morton. Guests include singer Macy Gray, comedian Jimmy Fallon and Oscar-winner Adrien Brody amongst others.
Jun ? Monkey Dust: Season 2, Episode 4 broadcast on BBC Three in the UK, featuring "Rio".
Jun? EMI release a 2-DVD Greatest compilation containing all of the band’s seminal videos.
Jul Erol Alkan Presents One Louder featuring Duran Duran is given away with Muzik Magazine in the UK.
Jul 3? The band fly to Japan to kick off their Reunion Tour.
Jul 5 Duran Duran appear on Tokyo FM Radio. Fans are pressed up against the windows. Roger likens it to being in a goldfish bowl. Nick makes a Taylors joke. (YouTube).

Also at the show is Simon Le Bon, and Chris Corner from The Sneaker Pimps. Palmer looks terribly unfit, and would pass away of a Heart Attack in September. Aug 27 Duran Duran: The Ritz, The Webster Hall, New York NY, USA.
Duran mania spreads to New York when the band plays their first date in eighteen years on the East Coast at Webster Hall (formerly The Ritz). All 1,500 tickets sell out in a mind blowing two minutes, crashing the Ticketmaster website for at least 30 minutes.

Aug 27 The show and after party celebration is attended by many New Yorkers happy to see the band back together including Christie Turlington, Edward Burns, Chloe Sevigny, Debbie Harry, Tatum O’Neal, Famke Janssen, Michael Musto, The Donnas and film director Brett Ratner. Aug 28 The band members attend the MTV Video Music Awards in New York as presenters the night after their show at the Ritz, and are surprised with a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Kelly Osbourne and Avril Lavigne. The band sits with Justin Timberlake

Aug 29 Simon is featured in the Vanity Fair all-music issue doing a Q&A with George Wayne in New York, the day after the band wins their surprise MTV Award.
Aug/Sept? During this period the teaser CD with short demo versions of a few of the unfinished songs (used to demonstrate the new work to potential labels and producers) was leaked to the Internet and quickly copied throughout the band's fan base. The songs on the CD were "Virus", "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise", "TV vs Radio", "Taste the Summer", "Salt in the Rainbow" and "Pretty Ones". The collection was known as The Beautiful Colours EP after another song was discovered Beautiful Colours (song), and included with Another Astronaut - The Demos and Beautiful Colours. The band were very unhappy about the leak and with the exception of "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise" which became their first single, and "Taste the Summer", the leaked songs were not included in the final version of Astronaut.

Oct 2 Duran launches their paid Fan Community at www.duranduranmusic.com, making concert tickets available to members first, as well as showcasing exclusive photos, footage and content.
Oct 2 Q Magazine and Nile Rodgers presents Duran Duran with The Q Lifetime Achievement Award at the Park Lane Hotel in London. The event is televised around the world. The band plays their first UK show since 1984 as the original lineup to an ecstatic sold-out crowd. Fans camp out at The Forum, in Kentish Town, London; Sky News reports that there were over 200,000 requests for tickets for a venue that could only hold 2,000 people. Oct 15 Duran participate in a Prince's Trust fundraiser at the Royal Albert Hall, entitled 'Fashion Rocks' As the band performs "Girls on Film", models including Yasmin Le Bon strut the catwalk dressed in Donna Karan.
