The Roxy is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The First American Tour at The Roxy Theatre in Hollywood, CA, USA on 2 October 1981.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at The Roxy Theatre, a 500 capacity nightclub venue located at 9009 West Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood.
The show was the first of two dates performed at the venue on the tour.
This is an important bootleg as it contains a full show from The First American Tour. "Tel Aviv" starts already in progress, but there is still 2:45 minutes of that instrumental on the CD.
The setlist during the tour had various changes, which included "Friends of Mine" performed as the opening song to this show, "To The Shore", "Khanada", "Faster Than Light" and "Like An Angel" are missing.
Tickets for the event cost around $7.50.
Whilst Duran Duran were in Los Angeles for their two shows at The Roxy Theatre, they met American photographer Brad Elterman who asked for a photo session. One of his shots was taken at the Hyatt Hotel, which features on the cover of Look and Hear.
The day the concert, Duran Duran held an autograph party at Vinyl Fetish record store in Hollywood, followed by two shows in the evening. The first was supporting The Go-Go's at The Greek Theatre, Los Angeles, then returning to The Roxy Theatre, Hollywood for a performance at 11:30pm.
- NOTE all of the evidence available is that the Go-Go's played in San Francisco on the 3rd of October - with the 3 night run at the Greek Theatre being from the 8th-10th of October; so 'if' there was an early show on the 3rd then it has to have been something/somewhere else (PD).
