Written by Robert Palmer, John Taylor, Andy Taylor and Tony Thompson, the song was released as the B-side to The Power Station's debut single "Some Like It Hot" in 1985.

This is a dance version of "Some Like It Hot". "The Heat Is On" was not included on the original release of the album, but was included on The Power Station (2 Disc Set) in 2005.
