Stan Katayama is a Japanese born Grammy Award nominated recording engineer, whose work has included The Power Station's Living In Fear album released in 1996.

BiographyEdit

Katayama's love of music started at young age, playing guitar. After graduating from Osaka University with a Major in electronics, he started work as a circuit designer for two years and then moved to Los Angeles to became a recording engineer in 1981. As a studio assistant during this period, he worked with many R&B artists including Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Jacksons and Bobby Womack.

In 1984 Katayama then moved to the Can-Am studio, which was more Rock 'n' Roll and worked with producers Bob Ezrin and Ron Nevison. Artists included Pink Floyd, Kiss, Bonham, Chicago, Eddie Money, Rod Stewart, Missing Persons, Joe Cocker and others.

He became a freelance recording engineer/producer in 1989 and was later nominated for a Grammy Award, as best engineer for Rage Against the Machine's 1994 self titled debut album.
