Ruth Rowland is a British illustrator, artist and calligrapher, whose work has included Duran Duran's Liberty album cover.
Biography[]
Ruth was born in Liverpool (UK), studying for a Bachelors Degree in illustration at Newcastle Upon Tyne. She later went on to study for a Masters Degree in hand drawn lettering, calligraphy and experimental typography at the Central St Martins School of Art based in London. Ruth has been working freelance for 20 years, with a client list that includes Coca Cola, BBC, Virgin Records and Cosmopolitan Magazine.
Her musical work has included calligraphy and illustrations for artists including Elton John, UB40, Donna Summer and Duran Duran, contributing to the band's Liberty album cover released in 1990.
