Royale Theatre, Boston is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The All You Need Is Now Tour at the Royale Theatre in Boston, MA, USA on 27 April 2011.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Royale Theatre, a 1,400 capacity venue located at 279 Tremont Street in the historic theater district and the epicenter of downtown Boston. This was the first 2011 tour show performed by the band in the state of Massachusetts.
Shortly after the Boston 103.3 WODS Radio acoustic show, Duran Duran took to the Royale Theatre stage to a roaring and rapturous crowd, a venue featuring elegant classical designs and a marble foyer.
The band opened with their debut single "Planet Earth". Five pillars of brightly beaming lights illuminated the stage, as the songs kept the crowd dancing nonstop.
Before "Notorious", Simon Le Bon said "This is the last one of our little shows we're doing for a long time. We've been on tour in the USA and Canada, playing in rooms like this and we've been getting amazing energy from our crowds."
Though single-heavy, the setlist spanned Duran Duran's catalogue, including their 1981 self-titled debut Duran Duran album.
"Keep those hands in the air, let's keep them up, up, up. I want to hear you up here." was the cry from John Taylor, before the band finished the show with a lengthy performance of "Girls on Film".
Duran Duran continued the tour three days later, playing the Altos de Chavon show at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic on 30 April 2011.
