|Released||annually in March|
|Notable artists||Duran Duran|
Rock the Rabbit is an annual pictorial of rock bands, published in the March edition of Playboy magazine.
About the pictorial Edit
The pictorial features images of rock bands photographed by music photographer Mick Rock. Fashion designers partake in the Rock the Rabbit event by designing T-shirts inspired by Playboy's rabbit head logo for each band. These shirts are sold at Playboy's retailers. The shirts are also auctioned off at LIFEbeat: The Music Industry Fights AIDS. Notable bands who have been part of the Rock the Rabbit are Duran Duran, Iggy Pop, Flaming Lips, Snow Patrol and The Killers.
The 2008 edition Edit
The 2008 edition is the second year that the Rock the Rabbit initiative fused rock, hip-hop, art and fashion in conjunction with the magazine’s annual March music issue (published 12 February 2008). The 2008 edition included artists such as Duran Duran and Iggy Pop, as well as other musicians from across a variety of genres, both established and buzz-worthy up-and-comers. As part of the 2008 program, Rock the Rabbit artists put their twist on the iconic rabbit head logo by creating limited edition T-shirt designs. Original prototypes of all T-shirt designs were auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting Rock the Vote. A special collection of Rock the Rabbit T-shirts were available at selected Bloomingdale’s retailers and the online ShopThe Bunny.com. RockTheRabbit.com also featured a complete gallery of the 2008 T-shirt collection, alongside profiles and Q & A’s with the artists.
