Pop TV Arena, Hong Kong: April 12, 2008 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Red Carpet Massacre Tour at the Pop TV Arena in Kowloon, Hong Kong on 12 April 2008.
About the album[]
The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Pop TV Arena, a 10,000 capacity venue located in West Kowloon that opened in January 2008.
Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor, lit up the outdoor stadium on Saturday night as 4 of the 5 original members of Duran Duran returned to Hong Kong.
Staged during bouts of rain, Duran Duran opened the show with "The Valley" from the Red Carpet Massacre album. Even the rain couldn’t keep down the crowds’ enthusiasm as the sonic waves of "Planet Earth", "A View to a Kill", "Notorious" and "The Wild Boys" kept the crowd dancing and moving through the just under 2-hour gig.
During the show Simon Le Bon joked about the three cans of hairspray used to keep his hair up in the humidity.
Ticket prices ranged from HK $380 to HK$780. There were no programme guides or merchanise on sale at the event.
