Paul Edmond was a British photographer, who photographed musical artists including Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Duran Duran during the early 1980s.

Biography[]

In the early 1980s, Paul was a young, up-and-coming photographer in Birmingham who was a regular contributor to New Sounds New Styles, the music art and fashion magazine edited by Kasper de Graaf and designed by Malcolm Garrett of Assorted Images which produced Duran Duran’s record sleeves, books, merchandise and print design from 1981 to 1986.

He photographed Duran Duran during their early period in Birmingham and also photographed other leading participants in the city's style explosion in the early 1980s. This included photographing Patti Belle and Jane Kahn whose Kahn & Bell label typified post-punk glam style, with Paul's photograph of Patti featuring on the cover of the Nick Rhodes and John Taylor 2006 compilation album Only After Dark. The photo of Patti is also included in the book Duran Duran Unseen, a 2005 colaboration by Paul, Kasper de Graaf and Malcolm Garrett.

Other early photography included pictures of Jon Mulligan, keyboard player of the influential band Fashion; Jane Farrimond and Martin Degville who created the fashion label YaYa and later made their mark as members of Sigue Sigue Sputnik; the brothers Paul and Michael Berrow, owners of the Rum Runner nightclub who became Duran Duran’s managers.
