Paper Magazine Party is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded at the Paper Magazine Beautiful People Party, Good Units at Hudson Hotel in New York, NY, USA on 30 March 2011
About the album[]
The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance during the Paper Magazine Beautiful People Party, held at the Good Units club located in the basement of the Hudson Hotel on West 58th Street in New York City.
Organised by New York based Paper magazine, this was the 14th annual Beautiful People Party and celebrated the release of Absolut Vodka's newest flavour, Wild Tea Vodka. Duran Duran were joined by host Aziz Ansari, Cobra Starship and Moby. Guests included Chris Taylor and Ethan Silverman of Terrible Records, Will Cotton and Sally Singer.
Doors opened at 8pm and Duran Duran hit the stage at precisely 10:00pm, opening with the title track of their latest album All You Need Is Now. Several songs into the set and Simon Le Bon said "This is what we play when we want to get paid" as the intro to "Hungry Like the Wolf", before the crowd exploded into song right along with the band.
Although the average age range hovered in the early 20s, people were excited and Duran Duran rocked the Beautiful People Party with a full hour of new and old hits that kept everyone dancing. The band finished their show with "Girls on Film".
The bootleg is incomplete, missing six songs from the setlist.
