New Orleans 1993 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Dilate Your Mind Tour at the Kiefer UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, LA, USA on 26 November 1993.

About the albumEdit

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Kiefer UNO Lakefront Arena, a 10,000 capacity venue located at 6801 Franklin Avenue in New Orleans. This was the only show performed in the state of Louisiana on the tour.

The show was part of the US November/December tour that featured a longer rearranged setlist and were performed without the string section. The band line-up included Yolisa Phahle, formerly of the string section playing additional keyboards to maintain the acoustic sound on a selection of songs. Curtis King Jr. joined Lamya as an extra backing vocalist.

After opening act The Cranberries featuring singer Dolores O'Riordan warmed up the crowd with their style of Irish rock, Duran Duran came out rocking with "Too Much Information". The song featured power chords played by Warren Cuccurullo and lyrics that deal mainly with the commercialisation of the music industry.

On tour in support of their 7th studio album Duran Duran, "Too Much Information" was the first of four tracks taken from the album during the evening.

Later there was a performance of Melle Mel's co-written "White Lines", a song Duran Duran would later record for their 1995 album Thank You.

Duran Duran closed the show with "The Wild Boys", a song inspired by Russell Mulcahy's ambition to make a full-length feature film based on a book by William S. Burroughs.

The album front cover features Duran Duran photography by Juergen Teller.
