The album is the complete recording of Duran Duran's performance at Sony Music Studios, a former music recording and mastering facility in New York City, located at 460 West 54th Street.
Created by MTV, Unplugged is a TV series showcasing musical artists usually playing acoustic instruments.
The bonus tracks on the album are three acoustic performances broadcast on UK radio. "Crystal Ship" was performed by Simon Le Bon and Warren Cuccurullo with only an acoustic guitar. It was broadcast across the UK on Simon Mayo's BBC Radio 1 breakfast show from London.
