Live In Birmingham UK is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Greatest and Latest Tour at the NEC Arena in Birmingham, UK on 7 December 1998.

About the albumEdit

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the NEC Arena, a 16,000 capacity venue located adjacent to Birmingham International Airport.

This was the first show of The Greatest and Latest Tour. After opening act Rialto, Duran Duran started in front of their hometown crowd. Wasting no time, the band launched into their debut single "Planet Earth".

"Is There Something I Should Know?" followed, the band's first UK no.1 hit single.

The third song was a rare performance of "Anyone Out There", which is not on any other Greatest and Latest Tour setlists. As a tribute to the Rum Runner, Simon Le Bon introduced "Anyone Out There" by saying "The NEC was about 50 yards from where the nightclub used to stand" (actually about 10 miles).

Near the end of the evening Le Bon had to be reminded to leave the stage before the encore, which featured an energetic performance of "Careless Memories" and finished with "Rio".

Tickets for the event cost around £19.50 + £2.00 booking fee.

The tour poster features Duran Duran photography by Ellen von Unwerth.
