Les Arenes: Live In Fréjus is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Strange Behaviour Tour at Les Arenes in Fréjus, France on 2 May 1987.

About the albumEdit

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at Les Arenes, a 12,000 capacity amphitheatre built in the first century. This was the fifth of six shows performed in France on the tour.

The show was staged at a historical site used throughout the Roman Empire. Duran Duran have played at other historic sites including the Arena di Verona concert in a Roman amphitheatre and the Louvre, Paris show.

The album is the full show and features Simon Le Bon speaking in French to the audience. The recording begins with "A View to a Kill", a single released with a music video shot in Paris.

The band kept the upbeat atmosphere going with the funky "Notorious", a song that marked the debut of the new streamlined trio version of Duran Duran.

The new-look band featuring original members Le Bon, J. Taylor and Rhodes filled their set with a mix that sampled recent material, interlaced with a generous serving of their familiar hits.

The evening finished with a slightly different version of "The Reflex", Duran Duran's most successful single.

Tickets for the event cost around 120 French Francs.

The French tour poster features Duran Duran photography by John Swannell.
