Biography[]

Born in New York, Frusciante became interested in rock music at an early age. After his parents divorced, Frusciante and his mother moved to California when he was seven. When he was nine, his stepfather offered him his first acoustic guitar.

John taught himself how to play guitar, and for the next several years he would spent all his time practicing. In California his interest in music grew as he discovered bands such as The Germs.

In school he heard many artists who influenced what he played on his guitar, such as Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa, among others. Frusciante became a big fan of a local band called Red Hot Chili Peppers when he heard them at 15 years of age. At this time original guitarist Hillel Slovak was still in the band. His dream to join the band came true in 1988, after striking up a friendship with the Chili Peppers' bassist Flea.

Frusciante's first recording with the Peppers, 1989's Mother's Milk, helped break the popular college rock band through to the mainstream, resulting in their first gold record.

The group's follow-up album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991), was a breakthrough success. Frusciante became overwhelmed by the band's new popularity and quit in 1992. He became a recluse and entered a long period of drug addiction, during which he released his first solo recordings: Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt (1994) and Smile From the Streets You Hold (1997).

In 1998, Frusciante successfully completed drug rehabilitation and rejoined the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their next album, Californication (1999) would eventually go on to sell 16 million copies.

In 2002 John with band recorded and released the band`s eighth album "By the way" In this album John used more backing vocals and additional instruments.

In 2006 Red Hot Chill Peppers released their ninth album who was named "Stadium Arcadium". That a double album with very interesting songs. In 2007, in Stadium Arcadium tour John invited in performances second guitarist, his friend Josh Klinghoffer, who will become the band's guitarist for ten years in the future, because John was very tired of the band and wanted to continue his solo work. In 2009, john left the band.

After 10 years, Frusciante relaxed and returned to the band on December 20, 2019. In 2022, they will record a lot of songs that will be divided into two albums "Unlimited Love" and "Return of the Dream Canteen"
