The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Sony Music Studios, a former music recording and mastering facility in New York City located at 460 West 54th Street.
This is an audience recording of the VH-1 TV show Hard Rock Live featuring Duran Duran. A soundboard recording and video versions are also available. The album is missing "Rio" from the setlist, which is included in the soundboard version. "White Lines" was played twice, with just the second take aired on TV.
The promo CD single "Notorious" / "Ordinary World" uses recordings from this show. Tracks are also available on Kill That Light.
