Wachovia Spectrum - Philadelphia: 02-04-2005 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Astronaut Tour at the Spectrum, Wachovia in Philadelphia, PA, USA on 2 April 2005.

About the album[]

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Spectrum, a 18,369 capacity venue located at 3601 South Broad Street. This was the first of three shows performed in the state of Pennsylvania on the tour.

Duran Duran played Philadelphia in July 1985, and the world was watching them. The gig was Live Aid, which took place about 200 meters east of this show, in the since-demolished JFK Stadium.

The audience rawed when the lights of the arena went out and a synthesizer intro kicked in. After several minutes the five original members of Duran Duran appeared and stood in front of the stage, as lights randomly flashed.

The band then launched into an energetic performance of "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise". The audience were soon taken back to the 1980s, with the crowd pleasing singles of "Hungry Like the Wolf", "Planet Earth" and "Union of the Snake".

On tour in support of their eleventh studio album, Astronaut, the title track was the first of five songs taken from the album during the evening.

Preceding the encore break was "The Wild Boys", a song which reached no.2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart in 1984.

After several minutes, the band returned and played a cover version of Melle Mel's "White Lines". Concluding the night was "Rio", featuring Andy Hamilton performing saxophone.

Duran Duran continued the tour the following evening, playing the Uncasville show on 3 April.
