About the albumEdit
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at Earls Court Arena, a 19,000 capacity venue located in west London. This was one of three European shows on the tour and the only UK date.
After UK girl group Thunderbugs warmed up the crowd with their style of pop, Duran Duran mounted their US tour show on a British audience. Promoted as The Overnight Sensation Show, the band kicked off with their third single "Girls on Film".
Frontman Simon Le Bon announced "Remember when your mum used to tell you, 'Don't get excited?' Well tonight, get excited!".
With the release of Pop Trash in June the next year, Duran Duran showcased new material from the album including "Hallucinating Elvis" and "Pop Trash Movie". Stage backing graphics included an ashtray full of burnt-out cigarettes.
Tickets for the event cost around £25.00.
Tracks include "Pop Trash Movie" from the Chicago 99 cybercast. "Come Undone" and "Starting to Remember" are acoustic performances, recorded from the radio. "Night Boat" is a recording of Simon Le Bon performing with The Smashing Pumpkins, in London on 23 May 1998.
