Encore Series: Costa Mesa July 16, 2003 is a Duran Duran legally bootlegged live album, recorded during The Reunion Tour at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa, CA, USA on July 16, 2003.

About the albumEdit

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Pacific Amphitheatre, a 8,500 capacity outdoor venue located on the grounds of the OC Fair & Event Center. This was the second time the five original band members had performed on stage together in the USA since July 1985.

The Encore Series is a collection of seven live concert bootleg albums sanctioned by the band during The Reunion Tour, each legally sold online by themusic.com.

Duran Duran launched their 21-song set with “Friends of Mine”, a track taken from their debut album Duran Duran. When "Hungry Like the Wolf" followed, the entire crowd were on their feet and singing along.

The setlist featured new wave classics like "Planet Earth", "Night Boat", "Is There Something I Should Know?", and "Careless Memories", as well as later-period songs that Andy Taylor and Roger Taylor were playing live for the first few times, such as "Come Undone", "Ordinary World", and "Notorious".

The band also showcased four new songs including "Still Breathing" and the funky uptempo "Virus".

The 2xCD set was released in a custom gatefold slipcase, hand stamped with the performance, date and track listings details. This presentation was also sanctioned by the band.

Each Encore Series album was originally billed by the label as been complete and unedited direct from the soundboard, but Duran Duran were unhappy with their performances on "Save A Prayer". The band replaced the track on this 2-CD set, with the version recorded in Nagoya on July 10, 2003.
