Duran Duran with Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Astronaut Tour at The Chapin Theater, Orange County Convention Center in Orlando FL, USA on 18 July 2005.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at The Chapin Theater, a 2,643 capacity venue located in Orange County Convention Center on the South end of International Drive.
The show was a collaboration with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, which offered something different in the age of computer-generated light shows and recorded vocal tracks.
Duran Duran featuring the original line-up had to keep the volume to a reasonable level to blend with the armada of strings and horns. The band also performed some of their songs without the orchestra such as "Friends of Mine" and "New Religion".
French horns and trombones announced the chorus of "Ordinary World", a song Simon Le Bon dedicated to the victims of the London bombings on 7 July.
The concert finished with "A View to a Kill", followed by an orchestral crescendo in the closing of "Rio" as the finale.
Tickets for the event cost around $55.00.
