Drum - The Journey Of A Lifetime is a 60-minute film documentary featuring Simon Le Bon, released in 1988.

About the video Edit

Narrated by Simon Le Bon, the video follows the incredible eight month journey of Drum, a 77 foot maxi yacht competing in the prestigious Whitbread Round the World Race. Some months before Le Bon was racing his co-owned Drum in the Fastnet race when the boat capsized, trapping himself and 5 crew members inside which nearly claimed their lives.

The video is the story of the courageous crew of sailors who encounter and triumph over the odds to finish the Around The World Race. Le Bon wrote and performed his first solo musical venture for the film's soundtrack, with the song "Grey Lady Of The Sea". The video also features music by Propaganda and Philip Glass, with an accompanying book Drum: An Extraordinary Adventure released at the same during 1988. There is no official DVD release at present, but there is an unofficial Drum - 20th Anniversary Edition released by the Fan Club.
