The album is a collection of songs released in 1981 by various artists. De Pre Historie was a radio and BRT TV show broadcast in Belgium. The compilation features "Girls on Film", Duran Duran's third single.

Grace Jones is also included, a James Bond actress who later performed on Arcadia's So Red the Rose album.

"Bette Davis Eyes" is a song by Kim Carnes, which was released with an accompanying music video directed by Russell Mulcahy. Roxy Music are included, a band whose songs were covered on the tribute album Dream Home Heartaches produced by John Taylor.
