"Charanga" is a song by The Power Station, released as the B-side to their fourth single "She Can Rock It" from the Japanese edition of their album Living In Fear by Chrysalis-Capitol-Guardian Records on 30 September 1996.
About the song[]
The song was written in the pre-recording stage of Living In Fear, with the same lineup as for their previous album in 1985 (Robert Palmer, Andy Taylor, John Taylor and Tony Thompson). However, John Taylor was going through a divorce at the time, as well as entering drug rehab, and pulled out before the song was recorded. Instead Bernard Edwards, the producer, played bass guitar and took over as the group's official fourth member.
"Charanga" was only released as a B-side to the single "She Can Rock It", and as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of Living In Fear.
Written by Robert Palmer, the song later featured on his compilation album Woke Up Laughing released in 1998.

Lyrics[]
Gamble everything on the feeling - You'll win every time You'll find that Charanga leaves you - Reeling like a case of wine We'll dance Charanga all day time - and night time We'll dance Charanga the rest of our lives Ay Charanga dance the night away Ay Charanga come on yeah Throw your caution into the wind and let it fly Come on let your worries all disappear Take a chance and let the wheel spin - Let your bet ride Don't you wish the night would - Go on for years ? Come dance the Charanga, yeah now A little bit closer Let's groove on this all-night party As much as the law allows Do something that'll make her - Feel real good Say something that'll make her smile Say something that'll make you understood Do something with a little style Girl you're such a sexy thing Ooh you make my spirit sing And your close proximity Oh it has affected me I can feel this rhythm swing With no encouraging And your sensuality Mm - it overpowers me
