BiographyEdit

Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, she was the youngest sister of blues musician Taj Mahal. When Carole was 20 years old she moved to California where she began her career as a singer, emigrating to France in 1979. There she established a successful career as a session singer and background vocalist for musicians and performers including Elton John, Eric Clapton, Johnny Hallyday, Patricia Kass, Julien Clec, Ishtar and Francis Cabrel. During this period she also performed on the tracks "Big Thing", "I Don't Want Your Love", "Too Late Marlene" and "Land", released on Duran Duran's Big Thing album.

In 1990, she joined Jean-Jacques Goldman and Michael Jones to form the trio Fredericks Goldman Jones. The trio performed together for ten years, from 1990 to 2000, recording five albums and touring extensively throughout Europe, South East Asia, Japan, and Africa.

In 1995 Carole sang background vocals on the album D'EUX written by Jean-Jacques for Celine Dion, which was released in the United States under the name The French Album.

Carole recorded two solo albums, Springfield released July 1996 and Couleurs et Parfums released in 1999.

In 2001 Carole died of a heart attack in Dakar, Senegal, at the age of 49.
